The repurposing of products is a breath of fresh air in the beauty community. We’ve noticed how we always strive for perfection and convince ourselves that there is only one way to do makeup. It should be full coverage and flawless. And don’t get me wrong we are not against this look. But we should be able to let go and play from time to time. This is an artistic expression and it’s fun to be out of the box, colorful and perhaps even messy. Let’s showcase some products and give unconventional ideas on how to use them. 1. Repurpose Makeup: Highlighter to Eyeshadow
Milk Makeup Highlighter in Lit (Champagne Pearl)
How to repurpose your highlighter into a sparkly eyeshadow? It’s almost disrespectful if we don’t start with the all-time favorite product-highlighter. It’s the best part of the makeup routine, admit it. I know y’all get super excited when it’s time to put it on. And then you put some more, and more and maybe just a bit more. And we don’t blame you. There is no such thing as too much shine. Can we just take a moment to enjoy the three fabulous colors of the holo stick? They are so precious and we are not going to limit ourselves and use them the old boring way. Did I hear cream eyeshadow? Yes, please! The lilac would be the perfect choice to put on your lids. And how about some pearly pink on those lips? 2001 here we come! Also please don’t forget your body and shower yourself in the gold color. Arms, collarbones -choose your poison.
2. Repurpose Makeup: Lipstick to Eyeshadow
Milk Makeup Lip and Cheek
This product is already multipurpose. The color range is big and you can choose from different pinks and corals to paint your face, plus it’s a matt finish so it’s not sticky. And how cool is this matching aesthetic – same color blush and lips! And now to turn it up a notch, why not match our lids as well. I think this bright pink is perfect for the eyes to pop. Can you imagine the full face of monochrome pink? It does not get better than this. Or maybe it does? Why not take three different shades and make an ombre effect. For example, start with the deeper purple shade as eyeshadow and tone down the colors when you get to the cheeks, and finally the lightest color for the lips. This is what I call extra.
3. Repurpose Makeup: Liquid Eyeshadow to Lip gloss
Milk Makeup Eye Vynil
Glossy eyeshadow – now that’s a look. I think this is one of my favorite beauty trends. It’s so editorial. Okay, I admit it’s not an everyday look, but on a fancy-schmancy dinner or cocktail party, you can rock it. And again – LOOK AT THIS COLOR. Is this real? I know I repeat myself but they are just eye candy. And for the sake of the experiment repurpose it as a lip gloss. This way you can justify the purchase and not feel bad that you bought eye vinyl that you can’t probably use on a day-to-day basis. Get inspiration, be brave and go play around with your makeup. These were just a few tips, but we encourage you to explore and experiment on your terms.
4. Repurpose Makeup: Lipstick to eyeliner
Fenty Lip Paint
A bold, red lip is never going out of style. But 2021 is the year of bold, colorful eyeliner. Save yourself some money and use liquid lipstick instead of buying 10 different colors of eyeliner. You just need a fine angled brush to create the perfect wing. The Stunna Lip Paint by Fenty comes in 9 different colors but we love to see the hot pink, bright red, and dark purple on our lids. After you master the colorful eye dot a little product on the apples of your cheeks and blend fast to create a matching blush.
5. Repurpose Makeup: Bronzer to eyeshadow
Fenty Match Matte Skinstick
That’s for the lazy girls who want to look put together. Nothing will make you feel more snatched than a bronzer. We love a cream contour so our choice is the Fenty Matt Skin Stick. After you are ready with your face take the same product and apply it to your eyelids. This is a favorite trick among celebrities. Bella Hadid is swearing by it and if it’s good enough for her, it’s good enough for us. The color will give depth to your eye and it’s a one-swipe wonder.
6. Repurpose Makeup: Brow Gel to Faux Freckles
Glossier Boy Brow Gel
The Boy Brow by Glossier it’s a staple on its own. It’s a product loved by many and one of their bestsellers. The fluffy brows are having a moment and we hope it lasts a long time. Natural and full is the way to go. Another big trend is fake freckles. It’s so cute and playful. There are tons of products specifically for that purpose but you can use something you already own. So we assume you have a brown brow gel of some sort. Take a sharp brush and coat some product on it. Start lightly dabbing it on your face in random order around your nose and cheeks. You don’t want it to look perfect since real freckles are not perfect. Take a damp makeup sponge and lightly go over the faux freckles to make them more natural and blended to your skin.
